Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever said that after the war ends, Belgium will provide air and naval assets to help preserve peace in Ukraine, UATV English reports.
He wrote about this on X following a meeting of the “coalition of the willing” in Paris.
De Wever described the meeting as productive and decisive.
“Together with a broad coalition of partners, Belgium will take on its share of the international effort aimed at preserving peace in Ukraine after the end of hostilities,” he said.
According to him, Belgium’s contribution will focus in particular on air and maritime forces, as well as training efforts.
“It is important that these efforts are backed by strong support from the United States, as well as U.S.-led monitoring, which will ensure effective deterrence and make it possible to achieve long-term stability,” the Belgian prime minister added.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy have signed a declaration of intent on deploying troops in Ukraine in the event of a peace agreement.
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson also said Sweden is ready to provide Gripen fighter jets and resources for demining the Black Sea after a peace deal with Russia is signed.
In addition, members of the coalition of the willing, Ukraine, and the United States have signed a joint declaration on security guarantees aimed at ensuring a stable and lasting peace in Ukraine.
