Ukraine should change the style and philosophy of its foreign policy.

This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, speaking at the conference of heads of foreign diplomatic institutions “Diplomacy 30. Strategy of a strong state“, UA reports.

“We must change the style and philosophy of our foreign policy. Today it needs many things, I would like to stop on 4 main ones in my opinion” – the head of state said.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy called speed the first principle.

“From being overly conservative, and therefore very slow, our diplomacy should become brisk and dynamic. Currently, in many processes Ukraine is forced to catch up. We strive to unblock the peace process in Donbas as soon as possible, return Crimea, achieve EU membership in the coming years and get a very clear time horizon from NATO, and we want to get it in the year 2022” – the president said.

To achieve this, Ukraine, according to the head of state, needs creativity.

“Creativity, the desire for quick results makes us look for all possible ways to achieve them. An example of this is the declaration in support of Ukraine’s European prospects, which has already been signed by 7 countries. Another, more significant example is the Crimean platform. We should not wait for someone to solve our problems for us, namely to look for and propose new mechanisms, formats” – said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The president also called ambition.

“Ambitiousness of opinions, formats, ideas. This is the face of our state. Get rid of negative, pessimistic thinking, get rid of words such as “this is impossible”, “this will not happen”, “this is not for us”. We should get rid of the complex of a third world country” – said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The 4th principle, according to the president, is the result.

“It is measured not by the number of applications for support of our state we are grateful for, not by the number of messages on Facebook or Twitter, but by the specific amount of support, specific projects, facilities, investments” – the head of state explained.

Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine should not be a tacit observer, but a global player.
