The European Union’s top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, condemned the recent decision by the International Olympic Committee that creates conditions for the return of Russian athletes to competitions.
This is cited by The Guardian, UATV English writes.
Kallas said such a decision “does not reflect reality.” The EU’s top diplomat also stressed that this decision “coincides with Russia killing a record number of Ukrainian civilians.”
“It gives the impression that the International Olympic Committee is rewarding such attacks,” Kallas added.
As is known, at the end of June the IOC amended the Olympic Charter in ways that could simplify Russia’s return, and on July 7 decided to temporarily restore the rights of the Russian Olympic Committee.
This decision has already sparked a wave of negative reactions from the sports community and relevant officials.
