The US State Department has agreed to hold talks with the Russian Federation in three formats. Discussions on the situation in Ukraine and arms control are scheduled for January 10.

This was stated by spokesman for the United States Department of State Ned Price, informs  UA.

The NATO-Russia Council is scheduled for 12 January. The next day, January 13, a meeting of representatives of Russia and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe will take place.

“The Russians are well aware that some of their proposals are unacceptable to the United States, to our European allies and partners. We will always adhere to the principle: nothing about our allies and partners – without our allies and partners, nothing about them without them. There will be areas where we can make progress, and I am sure there will be areas where we do not agree. That is the essence of diplomacy” – Price said.

He also stressed that “open diplomatic lines can be constructive” as the United States seeks to reduce the likelihood of conflict in and around Ukraine.

Earlier, Biden commented on the possibility of meeting with Putin on January 10.
