Ukrainian Yelizaveta Mereshko set a world Paralympic record

Ukrainian swimmer Yelizaveta Mereshko set a world record in the 200-meter qualifying swim at the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo.

UA reports this with reference to the Facebook page of the National Paralympic Committee of Ukraine.

“Ukraine’s just waking up, and we already have a world record by Lisa Mereshko in the morning, in previous swims” – ​​the statement reads.

The Ukrainian swam the distance in 2 minutes 56.9 seconds, 0.52 seconds ahead of the American Elizabeth Marx.

To remind, on August 25 Yelizaveta Mereshko became the first on the distance of 50 meters in freestyle swimming. For Mereshko, this is the fifth “gold” in her career. In 2016, at the Games in Rio de Janeiro, she won the distances of 50, 100, 400 meters in freestyle and 100 meters in backstroke swimming.
