Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha reacted to the massive shelling of Kyiv that Russia carried out on the night of today, July 6. He emphasized that the Russian regime, which deliberately attacks civilian objects, understands only the language of force. He called on international partners to respond decisively to Russian terror by strengthening sanctions, isolation, and supplies of air defense systems to Ukraine, UATV English informs.
During the massive attack on Kyiv, more than 20 ballistic, hypersonic, and cruise missiles, as well as hundreds of attack drones, were launched. In the capital, hits by ballistic missiles were recorded at 34 locations, as a result of which at least 11 people were killed and 46 were injured.
“When world leaders are heading to Ankara, I would like them to hear what families in Kyiv heard this night. One of the most brutal shellings involving dozens of ballistic missiles. A terrible cannonade of loud explosions following one after another. Russian terrorists were striking civilians who were sleeping, hitting residential high-rise buildings in order to cause as many losses as possible,” Sybiha noted.
In one of the districts, a dead family was pulled from under the rubble: a mother, a father, and a child. Rescue operations continue, but the number of victims is likely to grow, the foreign minister emphasized.
“Putin’s message to Ankara is simple: he will target ballistic missiles at sleeping children and continue killings as long as he can. The time for weak steps has passed. They will only encourage Moscow to continue and spread terror beyond Ukraine. The strongest result of the summit in Ankara should be strengthening Ukraine’s ability to protect our children from Russian ballistic terror. We need real steps,” he stated.
Sybiha added that PAC-3 missiles for Patriot systems are critically necessary for Ukraine.
“PAC-3 missiles were created precisely to protect people from such barbarism. Thousands of such missiles are stored in warehouses around the world in case of potential threats. But the threats in Ukraine are not potential! Russian missiles kill people every week. Right now, Ukraine is the only country in the world that is subjected to ballistic attacks every week. The means of protection against this terror must be right here,” the minister urged.
Ukraine initiated an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council because of Russia’s massive strike, Sybiha said.
The head of the Foreign Ministry reacted to the shelling of Kyiv and emphasized that the main message to the NATO summit in Ankara should be the strengthening of the Ukrainian sky.
As reported, the elimination of the consequences of the Russian massive attack continues in Kyiv. Damage was recorded at more than 10 locations in the city, including in residential buildings. Russia launched 68 missiles and 351 attack drones at the city.
