Kherson State Plant Pallada, which is part of Ukroboronprom, has signed a contract with the Croatian company ISKRA SHIPYARD 1 LLC for the construction of a new generation composite floating dock with a capacity of 5,000 tons.

This is reported by UA with reference to the website of Ukroboronprom.

It is noted that the ship repair facility will meet the requirements of international conventions. It is capable of docking all types of civilian ships with a dock weight of up to 5,000 tons and a length of up to 120 meters, warships such as “corvette” and “light frigate”, as well as diesel-electric submarines.

“The new contract will allow the plant’s staff to work fully for 12-13 months. I am sure that our specialists will take responsibility for this task and hand over the building on time” – said acting director of Pallada Eugene Alkhimov.

The pontoon dock will be made of environmentally friendly marine reinforced concrete with the use of sulfate-resistant Portland cement and special additives, thanks to which the structure can be operated in all climatic zones. Shipbuilding steel is used for the production of towers. This combination of materials will reduce maintenance costs by 2-2.5 times compared to a similar steel structure and not put it periodically in a dry dock throughout the service life, which is more than 50 years.
