Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in France to discuss Russia’s war against Ukraine, bilateral cooperation, and regional security issues.

According to Sybiha, the ministers exchanged views on the battlefield situation and diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive and lasting peace, UATV English reports.

“We discussed Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine, the situation on the battlefield, and diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive peace. I stressed that meaningful progress requires increased pressure on the aggressor and a clear commitment to international law,” Sybiha said.

The two officials also reviewed the bilateral agenda, with particular attention to food security cooperation and Ukrainian grain exports to Egypt.

Sybiha welcomed the de-escalation around the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as important for global economic stability, energy markets, and freedom of navigation.

The Ukrainian foreign minister also invited Abdelatty to visit Kyiv.

“We agreed to remain in close contact and continue working to advance practical cooperation between our countries,” Sybiha said.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in France, where Ukrainian officials are holding a series of talks with international partners focused on security, economic cooperation, and efforts to end Russia’s war against Ukraine.
