Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that U.S. President Donald Trump reacted positively to Ukraine’s request for licenses to manufacture anti-ballistic systems and missiles. The Ukrainian head of state made the remarks during an online appearance at the Reuters Next Conference, UATV English reports.
“I appealed to Trump. We need licenses so that we can use our own production capabilities. This time, he responded positively, and now we need to push the EU so that the world tries to produce anti-ballistic systems in Europe. I hope that when he responds positively, it means a positive answer,” Zelenskyy said.
In a separate audio comment to journalists, the president noted that he discussed Ukraine’s air defense needs and an energy support package with G7 leaders in order to physically protect energy infrastructure facilities.
“Diesel fuel, gas, gasoline — these are the things we need for the winter. If the war is not over by then and shortages arise, all partners will support such a ‘winter package,’” he stressed.
The president also announced that France will help rebuild the protective sarcophagus at Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant following Russian strikes on the site, while Switzerland will assist in restoring facilities at the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra.
