Next year’s energy efficiency program will be part of the Big Construction project. The government has approved a decree that will attract EUR 25 million for energy efficiency measures in 2 cities.

This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at a government meeting, UA reports.

According to the head of the Cabinet of Ministers, an important aspect of energy development should be a large-scale energy efficiency program.

“There are positive results both in terms of building insulation and in terms of boiler room modernization, but these positive results are more specific than systemic. And, accordingly, the energy efficiency program next year will be part of the “Great Construction”. We have several projects with international partners that will allow us to accumulate sufficient funds for this program” – said Shmyhal.

The government also approved a resolution at the meeting that would allow it to raise funds from Germany through the Credit Institution for Reconstruction (KfW). Shmygal added that more than EUR 25 million will be spent on energy efficiency measures in Zaporizhzhia and Zhytomyr.

To remind, Verkhovna Rada passed the law “On Energy Efficiency”, which, in particular, outlines the conduct of energy audits at large enterprises every four years, as well as the establishment of a target for annual reduction of energy consumption.
