Today, November 9, the forum “Big Construction: New Railway” continues in Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the event.

According to the head of state, for years the railway of Ukraine was destroyed by “corrosion”.
“A very important direction is starting – a new Ukrainian railway. For years, the railway was destroyed by “corrosion” – bad management and corruption. Like rust, it was covered with opacity and inefficiency. Because of these “no”, it has become expensive, inconvenient and even dangerous” – the president said.
He noted that the condition to which Ukrainian Railway Company Ukrzaliznytsia has been brought over the years can be briefly but aptly described as “a prehistoric locomotive that barely pulls a train with creaking cars to dirty and uncomfortable stations”.
“In the summer, until this train reached its end point, we involved the National Security and Defense Council, the National Security and Defense Council in the process. Today, the state is regaining control of a strategic asset that some considered their private transportation company. And what do you and I see now? We see the first important positive results” – the head of state said.
Among the results, Volodymyr Zelenskyy named, in particular, the fact that for the first time in 12 months Ukrzaliznytsia came to profitability, as well as increasing the cost of freight transportation.
