China is currently contributing the most to Russia’s ability to wage a war against Ukraine.

This was stated by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in the aftermath of a G7 foreign ministers’ meeting, according to Reuters.

“When it comes to Russia’s defense industrial base the primary contributor in this moment to that is China. We see China sharing machine tools, semiconductors, other dual use items that have helped Russia rebuild the defense industrial base,” Blinken said.

Blinken added that China will not be able to maintain amicable relations with Europe while “fueling the biggest threat to European security since the end of the Cold War”.

“If China openly pursues an ever closer partnership with Russia, which is waging an illegal war against Ukraine, … we cannot accept this,” Baerbock reiterated Blinken’s words after a G7 ministerial meeting in Capri.

Previously, Xi Jinping told Scholz that China would participate in the peace talks in Switzerland only if Russia was involved.
