Ukraine’s Ambassador to the US Oksana Markarova suggested that the first batch of US weapons under the new foreing aid legislation passed by Congress could arrive in Ukraine in April.

Markarova expressed such opinion in an interview with European Pravda.

“The law comes into force immediately, and the authority to provide weapons to us comes immediately. Moreover, Ukraine and the United States are actively working on these packages, even when no such authorisation was given. Hence, I think everything will happen very quickly,” the ambassador stated.

As Markarova was asked about April, she added: “We will not even rule out the possibility of it arriving in April.”

She, however, pointed out that it may be challenging for the US to find all the necessary equipment in their stock to spend the funds on.

“But does this mean that equipment for all US$23 billion [under the scheme of the president’s authority to allocate weapons – ed.] is ready for delivery? Unfortunately, no. So we are looking for it as quickly as possible, and the USA is also looking for it not only in the USA, for which a group which we at home call Ramstein [also known as the Ukraine Defence Contact Group – ed], is assembled monthly,” the ambassador explained.
