In the temporarily occupied Crimea, in the village of Molodizhne, after illegal searches, officers of the Russian FSB took out in an unknown direction a former member of the Crimean Tatar Mejlis in the Simferopol district, Eldar Menseitov.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Ombudsman Lyudmyla Denisova in Telegram, UA writes.

“Investigative actions” and arrests of Menseitov, according to preliminary information, related to the damage of the gas pipeline in the village of Perevalne on 23 August.

On July 18, 2021, Eldar testified on the side of the defense in the “Mustafa Dzhemilev case”. Russia is judging him in absentia for allegedly “illegal crossing of the Russian border” and “illegal handling of weapons“.

According to the Ukrainian Ombudsman, ignoring the demand of the UN International Court of Justice to lift the ban on the activities of the Mejlis, the Russian Federation continues the practice of repressions against the Crimean Tatars.

“I demand from the Russian Federation to end the persecution of the indigenous people of the Crimean peninsula immediately, and to release all illegally detained citizens of Ukraine. I call on the international community to condemn such illegal actions of the occupying state and to increase the political and sanctions pressure on Russia to stop it gross violations of human rights on the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea,” – Denisova said.
