During the “coalition of the willing” meeting in Paris on Tuesday, January 6, participating leaders will commit to supporting Ukraine across five points, including the deployment of multinational armed forces on Ukrainian territory, UATV English reports.

This was stated by a representative of the Élysée Palace, speaking on condition of anonymity.

On Tuesday, the coalition will discuss five pillars of support for Ukraine, including the possible deployment of Western troops on its territory.

“The meeting will allow commitments to be made across five points: a ceasefire and monitoring of its observance; continued support for Ukraine’s Armed Forces; the format for deploying multinational forces on Ukrainian territory; commitments on allied actions in the event of renewed Russian aggression against Ukraine; and long-term defense cooperation,” a source told European Pravda.

According to the source, the main objective of the leaders’ meeting is to agree on possible actions within the coalition of the willing and then coordinate them with the U.S. side.

In particular, leaders will discuss ceasefire modalities that are not security guarantees, including how monitoring along the line of separation will be carried out, as well as control and verification mechanisms.

The Élysée official stressed that Western troops will not be deployed directly along the line of separation, “because we are talking about a line of 1,400 kilometers, and the presence of soldiers along that line makes no sense either tactically or strategically.”

“It is very important that we have all the technical means to monitor the situation on the ground — drones, satellites, and so on. But above all, it is crucial that Americans, Europeans, and Ukrainians clearly understand what must be done in the event of a ceasefire violation,” the representative of President Emmanuel Macron’s administration said.

He added that there are two further key elements in the security framework. The first is continued long-term support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine to prevent future attacks. The second is the deployment of multinational forces to support Ukraine in the air, at sea, and on land, as well as the training and restoration of Ukrainian forces.

As previously reported, Paris will host a meeting of leaders of the coalition of the willing aimed at finalizing security guarantees for Ukraine.

From the United States, adviser and special envoy to President Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff, will attend the meeting. In addition, Jared Kushner, a member of the peace negotiation team, will also take part.

The European Commission has reiterated that the main security guarantee the European Union can offer Ukraine as a bloc is the prospect of Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
