Zelenskyy at UN: Stopping Putin Now Is Cheaper Than Preparing for a Nuclear Drone Catastrophe

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on the international community to stop Russian dictator Vladimir Putin immediately before the global arms race leads to disaster. His remarks were delivered at the UN General Assembly, with the live broadcast available on the UN portal and the Presidential Office YouTube channel.

The facts are simple: stopping this war now — and with it the global arms race — is cheaper than building underground kindergartens or massive bunkers for critical infrastructure later. Stopping Putin now is cheaper than trying to protect every port and ship from sea drones. Stopping Russia now is cheaper than guessing who will first build a simple drone with a nuclear warhead,” Zelenskyy stressed.

He emphasized the need to use all available means to compel the aggressor to stop.

“Only then will we have a real chance that this arms race does not end in catastrophe for all of us. If weapons are needed, if pressure on Russia is needed — it must be done. Now. Otherwise, Putin will continue to advance the war — broader and deeper. And as we warned before — Ukraine is just the first. Russian drones are already flying over Europe, and Russian operations are spreading across countries,” the President said.

Zelenskyy warned that Putin wants to continue and expand the war, leaving no one in the world truly safe.

He reiterated that Russia, a permanent UN Security Council member, is waging the largest war since World War II and shows no intention of ending it, highlighting the urgency of global action to prevent further escalation.
