The European Parliament has adopted a resolution condemning Russian drone incursions and airspace violations over European Union territory, while urging member states to accelerate deliveries of air defense systems, missiles, ammunition, and drones to Ukraine, UATV English reports.

According to a statement published by the European Parliament on June 18, the resolution was approved by 412 lawmakers, with 63 voting against and 53 abstaining.

MEPs stressed that incidents involving Russian drones are not isolated events but part of a broader Kremlin strategy aimed at intimidating the European Union and its allies.

“Russia bears full and unequivocal responsibility for these reckless escalation attacks that threaten human lives. Russia’s actions constitute a deliberate and systematic threat to the security, resilience, and sovereignty of the EU and its member states,” the resolution states.

Lawmakers also condemned Belarus for its role in hybrid attacks against the European Union and highlighted Minsk’s complicity in Russia’s aggressive actions.

The European Parliament expressed full solidarity with Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Romania, whose territories, airspace, or critical infrastructure have been targeted by Russian provocations.

“The European Parliament declares that the European Union will not be intimidated by Russia and remains united in its determination to defend the security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of all EU member states and to continue supporting Ukraine,” the statement said.

MEPs emphasized the urgent need to accelerate the production and delivery of priority military equipment to Ukraine, including air defense systems, ammunition, drones, and missiles. They also called for closer cooperation with Moldova in countering Russian drone threats.

In addition, lawmakers advocated strengthening the eastern flank of the EU and NATO from the Arctic to the Black Sea and underscored the importance of creating a fully-fledged European Defense Union.

The resolution follows commitments made by G7 leaders to expand supplies of air defense systems and long-range weapons to Ukraine.
