The situation on the southern section of the front remains tense and is changing rapidly, according to Vladyslav Voloshyn, who spoke during the national telethon Yedyni Novyny, UATV English reports.

According to Voloshyn, the most intense fighting is currently taking place in the Huliaipole sector. Russian forces are also conducting assaults in the Orikhiv and Oleksandrivka directions.

He noted that Russian troops are attempting to break through Ukrainian defenses and seize positions, but so far have been unable to achieve their objectives.

“The enemy is unwilling to retreat because it has specific objectives and deadlines for capturing Stepnohirsk and advancing further along the shoreline of the former Kakhovka Reservoir toward Zaporizhzhia. That is why quite fierce battles are continuing here,” the spokesperson said.

At the same time, Voloshyn noted that Russian units suffering significant losses are being withdrawn, but are quickly replaced by fresh forces, allowing the assaults to continue despite heavy casualties.
