President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held an audience with King Philippe of the Belgians, discussing Russia’s attacks on civilian infrastructure, Ukraine’s European integration, and bilateral defense cooperation.
During the meeting on June 18, Zelenskyy briefed the Belgian monarch on the latest Russian strikes, including damage inflicted on the UNESCO-listed Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, UATV English reports.
The Ukrainian president stressed the need to increase sanctions pressure on Russia and outlined ongoing diplomatic efforts with partners aimed at strengthening Europe’s role in the peace process.
Zelenskyy also informed King Philippe about the current situation on the battlefield and Ukraine’s defense needs amid continued Russian aggression.
In addition, the two sides discussed support for Ukraine’s accession to the European Union and ways to deepen bilateral defense cooperation between Kyiv and Brussels.
The audience took place amid intensified diplomatic efforts by Ukraine to secure additional military assistance and strengthen European support for its path toward EU membership.
