Volodymyr Zelenskyy has strengthened social guarantees for people with disabilities

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the law “On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine Concerning Increasing Social Guarantees for Persons with Disabilities and Children with Disabilities” No. 1664-IX. The Parliament of Ukraine passed it on July 15 this year.

UA informs this with reference to the Office of the President.

The document strengthens the social protection of people with disabilities.

In particular, according to the law, such people and persons accompanying them have the right to priority service at any cash register, as well as at all enterprises, institutions and organizations that provide services to the public.

Also, people with disabilities who go for treatment and have the relevant documents, persons with disabilities of group I and persons accompanying them, have the right to priority crossing of the state border of Ukraine and checkpoints of entry/exit to the temporarily occupied territories (not more than once a week in one direction).

In addition, adults and children with disabilities will be able to receive rehabilitation assistance at the expense of administrative and economic sanctions and penalties received by the state budget and used by the Fund for Social Protection of the Disabled Persons.

The law comes into force on the day following the day of its publication.
