In Tallinn, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, UATV English reports, citing the President’s Office.
The leaders discussed the results of the Ukrainian president’s historic visit to Sweden in late May and the implementation of agreements on the delivery of Saab JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets. Kristersson noted that the meeting in Uppsala had been a very important step in strengthening cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the defense sector.
Special attention was given to enhancing Ukraine’s air defense capabilities, including efforts to secure additional air defense systems and missiles for them. Kristersson briefed Zelenskyy on broader contacts with international partners aimed at deepening defense cooperation.
The Ukrainian president also informed the Swedish prime minister about his meeting with the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany in the E3–Ukraine format, as well as contacts with representatives of the U.S. president regarding diplomatic efforts to achieve peace.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Sweden for its consistent support for Ukraine’s European integration and emphasized that Ukraine seeks the opening of all six EU accession negotiating clusters in June–July. Kristersson reaffirmed Sweden’s support for that goal.
The leaders also coordinated their contacts and cooperation plans for the near future.
