Vidradnyi Park in Kyiv has undergone major repair and renovation.
According to the mayor’s website, the park now boasts a mini-football field, a children’s playground for preschool children, and a track for skateboarders, bicyclists, and roller skaters.
The last repairs to the approximately 500-year-old park were a decade ago, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
“Last year we began large-scale repair works in metropolitan parks to make them modern and comfortable holiday areas for local citizens and tourists,” Klitschko said. “The perfect example of this kind of modern park is Natalka Park, in the Obolon district. And we won’t stop at this. A month ago, in May, on the occasion of the Day of the City, we opened another recreational area in the center of the city, Volodymyrska Hirka Park. And now, after the massive repair works, I would like to present you with Vidradnyi park.”
The park has a new green labyrinth, arranged with lanes for walking and riding, and a watering system. There are 100 new benches and 100 trash bins along with new lighting.
“Soon, after major repairs, we will also open other parks, where repair work is ongoing. Kyiv is a city of parks. And our task is to make Kyivan parks brand new on the same level with European ones,” Klitschko said.
Klitschko said that there are five parks where major repairs are happening including Syrets Park, The Victory Park, Sovky Park, The Park of Partisan Glory and Natalka Park.
