Verkhovna Rada approves Verkhovna Rada approves Temporary Commission of Inquiry report on Wagnergates

The Verkhovna Rada supported the interim report of the Interim Commission of Inquiry “on the investigation of possible illegal actions of government officials and others who could contribute to the violation of state sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine and pose a threat to Ukraine’s national security.”

This was reported by UA with reference to the Verkhovna Rada.

251 people’s deputies voted for this decision, 46 – against, and 30 – abstained.

According to the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk, the report will be sent to the Office of the Prosecutor General, the Security Service of Ukraine, the State Bureau of Investigation “for consideration within its competence and appropriate response.”

The Temporary Commission of Inquiry investigation concerned the failure of an operation to detain Russian mercenaries from the private military company Wagner. According to the head of the commission, Maryana Bezugla, the Temporary Commission of Inquiry established “the absence of any documented instructions on deferment by any official.”
