The president fired the head of the Security Service of Ukraine counterintelligence

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a decree dismissing Oleksandr Rusnak, head of the counterintelligence department of the Security Service of Ukraine.

This was reported by UA with reference to the decree published on a site of Office of the president.

The head of state appointed Rusnak head of the Security Service of Ukraine counterintelligence in September 2019. In 2020, he was awarded the military rank of Security Service of Ukraine Major General.

At a press conference on November 26, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he was “ashamed” of the lack of professionalism of the Ukrainian counterintelligence during the operation to detain the so-called “Wagnergates”.

The reasons for dismissal are not named.

By the way, the Security Service of Ukraine is investigating the fact of preparation of actions by individual citizens of Ukraine and the Russian Federation in order to seize state power in our country.
