Ukrainian Marines Participate in Multination Military Exercise in Georgia

Marines of the Ukrainian Naval Forces are taking part in a multination military exercise, Noble Partner – 2018, in Georgia, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported.

“During the exercise, servicemen will carry out offensive and defensive fire fighting operations, work out capturing settlements, clear buildings involving helicopter landings and conduct raids,” the statement reads.

In addition, the Ukrainian military plans to discuss NATO’s tactical and technical procedures, improve ground intelligence skills, and review the tactical and technical characteristics of small arms and light weapons from the United States Army.

The goal of the exercise is to improve the skills and abilities of partner countries and to try to help them meet NATO standards.

The training will last until Aug. 15.

More than three thousand servicemen of 13 NATO member and partner countries: Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, United Kingdom, Germany, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, the U.S., Turkey, Ukraine, France and Estonia, are participating.

The exercise also involves U.S. aircrafts and German armored personnel carriers.
