The Danish political parties and the government decided to allocate another DKK 4.4 billion (€590 million) within the Ukraine Fund, having already used almost all of the funds earmarked for Ukraine’s support in 2024.

The announcement was made by the Danish Ministry of Defence.

“It is absolutely crucial that we show the Ukrainians that we stand with them in the current serious situation”, says Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.

The additional funds will be used mostly for direct military support to Ukraine in the form of weapons, other military equipment and training programmes. This includes purchasing weapons from manufacturers of other countries.

Danish contracting companies also consider direct purchases from Ukrainian defense industry if the necessary control mechanisms are implemented.  Poulsen previously stated he had been to several Ukrainian defence industry facilities in Kyiv in March and had seen great potential for future cooperation.

The Danish government announced a new military package for Ukraine worth €300 million on April 17. The funds will be used to purchase ammunition, drones and manufacture missile components.
