A Ukrainian-language audio guide has started working at the Sagrada Familia Cathedral in Barcelona. It became the 30th in the network of audio guides that provide information in Ukrainian.

UA reports this citing the Office of the President of Ukraine.

The project was implemented on the initiative of First Lady Olena Zelenska and thanks to cooperation of the Ukrainian Ambassador to Spain Serhiy Pohoreltsev and director of the museum Xavier Martinez. Work upon preparing the audio guide has been going on since February 2021.

“It is very symbolic that the project is timed to the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence, and we are launching the 30th audio guide in a very special place. Ukrainian will sound in the historically significant and cult museum – “Cathedral of the Sagrada Familia”, the first stone foundation of which was laid back in 1882. Presence of such a large-scale institution is an extremely important step for the spread of the Ukrainian language around the world” – Olena Zelenska stressed.

The initiative of the First Lady of Ukraine is aimed at popularizing the Ukrainian language abroad through cultural diplomacy. Earlier, similar audio guides appeared in the UK, Northern Macedonia, Greece, Kenya and other countries.

As we have already reported, the first Ukrainian-language audio guide in Greece was launched this month.

And in July, a Ukrainian-language audio guide appeared at the Vienna House of Arts.
