Ukraine has conveyed a proposal for an energy ceasefire to Russia through American partners.
This was stated by Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his evening address, UATV English reports.
“If Russia stops strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, we will respond in kind. Our proposal has been conveyed to the Russian side through the Americans”, President of Ukraine stated.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russian drone attacks on Odesa caused civilian casualties and further damage to Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, while Kyiv continues to push for increased international pressure on Moscow and diplomatic efforts toward a just peace.
According to the president, emergency response efforts continued throughout the day following a nighttime attack by Iranian-made Shahed drones. While most were intercepted, several struck energy facilities and residential buildings.
“Most of the drones were shot down, but unfortunately not all. There were again strikes on energy infrastructure and residential buildings. Three people were killed, including a small child. My condolences to the families. Eighteen people were injured, and all have received the necessary assistance.”
The president stressed that sustained international pressure remains critical, particularly targeting Russia’s energy revenues.
“If Russia can afford this war, if it can finance it, it will not move toward peace on its own. That is why it is so important not to ease pressure on the aggressor.”
He noted that Ukrainian long-range strikes, along with Western sanctions, are already reducing Russia’s oil income — a key source of funding for the war.
“Our long-range measures are working effectively and truly reducing Russian revenues, especially oil revenues. Every limitation on their ability to export oil is the right step.”
Zelenskyy also confirmed ongoing discussions with the United States on security guarantees, calling them essential for ending the war and ensuring long-term stability.
“Security guarantees are the key to a real end to the war, to a lasting peace, and to building trust in the process.”
At the same time, Ukraine continues to expand diplomatic and economic ties in the Middle East. The president highlighted recent progress following meetings with Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and ongoing cooperation with regional partners.
“Ukraine is now not just present in the Middle East and the Gulf — it is a desired and strong partner there.”
Zelenskyy concluded by reaffirming Ukraine’s broader goal of global stability and security, emphasizing that peace efforts must extend beyond Europe.
“Our goal is absolutely clear: stability and peace in Europe, stability and peace in the Middle East and the Gulf — and in all regions that are critical for global security.”
He added that Ukraine remains open to cooperation with all countries that respect its sovereignty and support its independence.
