Ukraine explained to the European Commission its position on the gas contract between Hungary and Russia

The Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko conveyed to the European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson the position of Kyiv on the contract signed the day before for the supply of Russian gas to Hungary bypassing Ukraine.

This was stated by a representative of the European Commission in a commentary on Interfax-Ukraine, UA writes.

Simson listened to the minister’s opinion and explained to him the role of the commission in evaluating such a contract in accordance with EU security of supply legislation.

She also confirmed the well-known position of the commission that the EU considers Ukraine to be a reliable transit country.

To remind, Kyiv will appeal to the European Commission due to the agreement between Hungary and Gazprom.
