Ukraine is working to be present in one format or another at the NATO summit in Madrid next June, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said, Ukrinform writes.

He told this to journalists in the village of Huta in Ivano-Frankivsk region on Tuesday, December 21, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

“We believe that at least we have set such a task and talked about it with [NATO] Secretary General [Jens Stoltenberg]. Behind the scenes, given some relations with some leaders, we are discussing Ukraine’s participation in the NATO summit in Madrid in 2022,” Zelenskyy said.

He added that the most important thing for the Ukrainian side is that Ukraine is present there “in one form or another” and that in 2022 we have “a concrete perspective with dates when they see us as an equal member of the Alliance”.

On December 16, at a joint press conference with Stoltenberg, Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic course remains unchanged and he sees a window of opportunity at the next NATO summit in Madrid.
