Today, Ukraine celebrates Air Force Day, a professional holiday which has been recognized on the first Sunday of August since 2007.
“Dear Air Force Warriors! Dear veterans! I congratulate you on the professional holiday of the defenders of the Ukrainian sky — Air Force Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is a holiday of courageous people who day and night defend the airspace of the Fatherland, in difficult conditions carry out combat and training departures, and skillfully and quickly transport servicemen, weapons, and equipment over long distances,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said
Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman also congratulated the Air Force.
“The Ukrainian Air Force is made up of powerful and effective troops that protect our country’s airspace. The military personnel and civilian personnel carry out their professional duties and responsibilities with honor,” the prime minister said.
And Ukrainian Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak also had words to say.
“I sincerely congratulate all the military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on their professional holiday! I am grateful to the Air Force soldiers for their courage and determination during combat missions and for the enormous burdens and risks they have had to endure and overcome in Ukraine’s difficult times. You capably fulfill the most difficult mission for the security of our country,” he said.
