Great Britain and the United States of America are helping to investigate the assassination attempt on the first assistant to the President of Ukraine, Serhiy Shefir.
This was stated by the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak, UA reports.
According to him, the crime caused a “frenzied reaction”. The Office of the President of Ukraine received many calls with words of support from friendly and partner countries.
“Many have offered to help. Today, our law enforcement agencies are cooperating with the United States and Great Britain. I am sure that we will find out who was behind this” – said Yermak.
He believes that those who do not want reforms, war and clearing Ukraine of criminals are behind the attempt.
The case will be investigated by the Main Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In addition to the United Kingdom, the Federal Bureau of Investigation of the United States of America will assist Ukrainian law enforcement.
To remind, Serhiy Shefir‘s car was fired in the Kyiv region on the morning of September 22. He was driving to work. The ambush was waiting in the forest. Shefir was not hurt. The driver was hit with three bullets.
Three versions of the crime are considering: in connection with the state activities of the victim, in order to put pressure on the top leadership of the state and to destabilize the political situation in the country. A version with the involving of special services of foreign states is also being considered.
