The Security Service announced suspicion to the head of the Russian PMC “Wagner”

Investigators of the Ukrainian security service (SBU), as part of the pre-trial investigation, reported the suspicion in absentia to head of the Russian private military company “Wagner“.

This was reported by UA with reference to the SBU press service.

The man is said to be involved in encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, as well as in the conduct of an aggressive war.

The suspect is a Russian citizen who headed the organization to carry out covert military operations.

“It was established that in the period from July 2014 to March 2015, he was in the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Moreover, the perpetrator acted by prior agreement with officials of the Russian Armed Forces and under their control. The man commanded the subordinate units of the Wagner militants, who, together with the units of the regular troops of the Russian Federation and illegal armed formations, fought against the Armed Forces of Ukraine” – the department notes.

Based on the evidence of illegal activity, the perpetrator is suspected of committing crimes for:

  • Part. 3 art. 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine),
  • Part. 5 art. 27, part 2 of Art. 28, part 2 of Art. 437 (complicity in the conduct of an aggressive war) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The pre-trial investigation continues. The issue of declaring the suspect on the international wanted list is being resolved.
