In January 2022, the first stage of the reform of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine will begin. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a relevant decree. The concept will be implemented in two stages by 2025.

UA reports this with reference to the Government portal.

“Cybersecurity and protection of personal data of citizens is one of the main priorities of the Ministry of Finance. This area should not just be on a par with the digitalization of the country, but one step ahead. Thanks to the reform, the State Special Communications Service will optimize its structure, get rid of its unusual functions and strengthen cyber protection of critical infrastructure. This will allow Ukraine to become one of the strongest countries in the field of cyber security, so that everyone feels safe in the digital state” – said Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Digital Transformation of Ukraine.

The concept of development of the State Special Communications Service will help:

  • ensure reliable and high-quality government communication at any time;
  • improve the training of cybersecurity professionals;
  • modernize the information and telecommunication infrastructure of state management systems;
  • increase the confidence of Ukrainians in the activities of the service and the efficiency of tasks;
  • introduce public-private partnership in the field of cybersecurity;
  • develop a reliable system of protection of state registers and critical infrastructure;
  • expand cooperation with the NATO with a view to Ukraine’s full membership in the Alliance.

“All measures within the implementation of the strategy will increase institutional capacity, as well as optimize the organizational structure of the State Special Communications Service” – added its head Yuri Shchihol.
