The government has appointed the scholarships for Ukrainians who saved Jews during the Holocaust

The Cabinet of Ministers has appointed lifetime scholarships for 26 Ukrainians who saved Jews during World War II.

This is reported by UA with reference to the website of the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine.

The resolution was adopted according to the decree of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy No. 193 of May 14, 2021.

“Lifetime state scholarships from June 1, 2021 have been appointed to 26 citizens of Ukraine who saved Jews on the territory of Ukraine during the Holocaust during World War II and were awarded by the Israel Institute of Catastrophe and Heroism of the National Holocaust Memorial and Heroism “Yad Vashem” title Righteous Among the Nations or the Jewish Council of Ukraine with the title of the Righteous of Ukraine or the Righteous of Babyn Yar” – the message says.

The amount of the scholarship is three living wages for people who have lost the ability to work – UAH 5,562 as of July 1, 2021.

Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada established May, 14 as the Day of Remembrance for Ukrainians who saved Jews during World War II.

To remind, President Volodymyr Zelensky laid flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Kyiv on the Day of Mourning and Commemoration of War Victims in Ukraine.
