Ukraine and our partners will do everything necessary to ensure that Russia’s intentions to move to a new stage of offensive for the sake of revanche fail. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a conversation with media representatives following talks with Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen in Odesa.
“I think that Russia really wants some kind of big revanche. I think it has started it. And I think that they will not be able to provide their society with any convincing positive result in the offensive. I am confident in our army. We will stop them all little by little, destroy them and prepare our big counteroffensive,” the Head of State emphasized.
As noted by the President, Russia’s attempts to succeed in this war, particularly in the Donetsk direction, are not ceasing, and this process is constantly intensifying.
“Every day there are either new groups of career military, or an increase in the number of Wagner militants. Our military processed all this information. And the request to our partners to strengthen our army was based on this information,” he said.
According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine is analyzing all available data in detail and is asking its partners for appropriate support.
The Head of State noted the positive results of the recent meeting in the Ramstein format but emphasized the importance for these decisions to be timely.
“Because sometimes good decisions, when slowed down, end up being weak,” he said.
According to the President, negotiations on the formation of a tank coalition are ongoing, and due to the huge number of challenges, there is no time for long deliberations.
“We need decisions. We would like to involve as many countries as possible in the tank coalition to have success on the battlefield. However, this is a really complicated issue, because sometimes the situation depends not on one decision but on several. Some countries can provide training, some can provide ammunition. We need to work together,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy explained.
In particular, he expressed hope for positive decisions on the supply of tanks from Denmark in the near future.
For her part, Mette Frederiksen noted that since the beginning of the war, her country has declared that it would support Ukraine with everything necessary and has proven in practice that it is a true friend of Ukraine.
“Of course, tanks are what we discussed today. We have recently transferred artillery systems to Ukraine. But tanks are also needed. We talked about various topics that are important for Ukraine now and in the future, including tanks,” the Prime Minister said.
