To improve Germany’s relations with Russia, first of all, progress is needed in a peaceful settlement of the situation in Donbas.

This was stated by Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany Heiko Maas, UA reports.

He also reminded that the Russian Federation recently refused to participate in the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Norman format. He also expressed concern over the movement of Russian forces near our border.

“Recent reports of Russian troops moving near the border with Ukraine are extremely alarming. These incidents show that the ball for resolving the current controversy is on the field of Moscow. The European Union will continue to speak with one voice. I am sure of that” – Maas said.

To remind, Russia supplies weapons to the occupied Crimea and to certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. This was emphasized by the Deputy Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Yuriy Vitrenko.
