President made a test trip on a new train made in Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy inspected the DPKr-3 regional diesel train, which was built this year at PJSC “Kryukov Railway Car Building Works”.

The head of state made a test trip on the diesel train on the route from Darnytsia technical station to Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi station.

During a short trip, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of PJSC “Kryukov Railway Car Building Works” Volodymyr Prykhodko told the President that the train meets Ukrainian and European standards, so if one considers the possibility of exporting it, the only question is the width of the railway track. In addition, the body model is designed in such a way that it is suitable for running on suburban and regional routes, it is also designed for high platforms.

Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov noted that a total of 20 DPKr-3 diesel trains are planned to be ordered for JSC Ukrzaliznytsia.

“These will be regional express trains that can run in the directions of Izmail – Odesa, Kharkiv – Kramatorsk, Kharkiv – Lozova, Kharkiv – Popasna” – he said.

In addition, such trains are going to be sent to the regional routes Lviv – Ternopil – Chernivtsi (via Zalishchyky) – Kolomyia, Popasna – Kupyansk – Kharkiv – Sumy – Vorozhba.

JSC Ukrzaliznytsia has already received the first two such trains. One of them runs on the route Kolomyia – Kivertsi (“Carpathian Express”). The third train, according to the plan, will arrive in late November this year, and two more – in the first quarter of next. It is planned to use them on the route Kyiv – Boryspil Airport.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy set a task for the representative of PJSC  “Kryukov Railway Car Building Works” to offer a format of work in which these 20 trains can be manufactured over the next two years.

The Minister of Infrastructure also said that, in addition to diesel trains and passenger cars, a seven-year program to upgrade the fleet of freight cars, which will be collected, in particular, at KVBZ, is coming to an end.

The DPKr-3 train consists of three cars with 170 comfortable seats with armrests, including 69 first-class seats and 101 second-class seats. The cars have a modern interior and exterior design, equipped with air conditioning, backup heating and vacuum toilets. The train provides barrier-free access for low mobility groups and people with disabilities. The design speed of the train is 140 km/h.

New diesel trains DPKr-3 can be seen in the exhibition pavilion of Kyiv railway station, where the exhibition “Iron Changes”, dedicated to the renewal of the rolling stock of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, which became part of the National Program “Big Construction”.
