Only if they lose will the leadership of the Russian Federation be held accountable for all the war crimes they have committed,” – Podolyak

Russia uses the terrorist genocidal component in the war to destroy the Ukrainian population, because the main goal of the Russian war remains the destruction of Ukraine. It is important that Russia loses the war, only then will its leadership be held accountable for all the war crimes they committed. It is necessary to reach a fair end to the war, otherwise Russia will be able to avoid punishment for its crimes committed in Ukraine. This opinion was shared by Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine (OPU) Mykhailo Podolyak on the FREEDOM TV channel.

Commenting on the latest massive Russian missile attacks on Ukraine, he noted that the motives of the aggressor country are absolutely obvious.

“Without effective advancement along the front line, they need to provide psychological pressure on Ukraine, to show that, they say, you see, we can raise the stakes further. We can put exactly the same pressure on those countries that support Ukraine, show them that Russia is ready to raise the stakes. And, accordingly, you will either force it to capitulate, or we will continue to behave this way,” the speaker said.

Podolyak also emphasized that Russia uses both terrorist and genocidal components in the war, since its main goal is the destruction of not just infrastructure, but the civilian population.

“They hate us fiercely in every sense of the word. This is a manifestation of genocide: deportation of children, adults, filtration, torture, mass murder, violence, theft, seizure of other people’s property. All this is a manifestation of the genocidal component in this war. And the main goal of this war is the destruction of the state of Ukraine. Not some abstract one, but specifically citizens who here show maximum disloyalty to the Russian Federation,” the guest of the broadcast emphasized.

If Russia loses this war, undoubtedly, all these crimes will receive a proper legal assessment, Podolyak emphasized.

“Exploring all this within the framework of criminal offenses, of course, the role of certain subjects of the Russian Federation will be traced. Those who made decisions, who planned everything that they did, and those who carried out these military, and not only military, but also humanitarian crimes against the civilian population of Ukraine directly on the ground. But for this, the main factor is important: Russia must definitely lose,” the guest of the broadcast emphasized.

Otherwise, Podolyak says, Russia will not bear any responsibility for the crimes it has committed.

“If Russia does not lose, if it signs some abstract Minsk protocols or some other agreements, it will not bear any responsibility for all the crimes it has committed. All this will be marked as impossible to perform. That is why in such a large-scale war with an absolutely clearly expressed genocidal component, it is necessary to reach a fair ending,” Podolyak concluded.
