An office of Bavaria opened in Kyiv, Ukraine, on March 5.

The opening ceremony was attended by the First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine and the Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Stepan Kubiv, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Pavlo Klimkin, the Mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, and the Bavarian Minister of State, Beate Merk,  Ukrinform reported.

“Less than a year ago, the Minister President of Bavaria, Horst Seehofer, together with the President of Ukraine, made the decision to open an office of Bavaria in Kyiv. I am very happy that this idea has been implemented in such a short time. Opening a representational office is very important to us, because Ukraine’s success is very important for everyone in Europe. We want to support the reform process in Ukraine as much as possible. People of this wonderful country definitely deserve it,” Merk said.

Kubiv emphasized that in recent years, Ukrainian-German cooperation has helped to create more than 15,000 jobs in Ukraine, in agribusiness, infrastructure, and the automotive industries, and also the Information Technology sector.

“German business has created more than 40,000 jobs, but this is not enough for Ukraine. Today, many well-known Bavarian companies are seriously considering the opportunity to come to Ukraine, and this representational office will help them,” Kilmkin said.
