Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba commented on the statement of German MP Nils Schmid to place migrants from the Polish-Belarusian border on the territory of Ukraine.

This was reported by UA with reference to Kuleba’s statement on 1+1 TV channel on November 17.

According to the Foreign Minister, the best way to involve Ukraine in solving the problem of migrants is to help our country become a member of the EU.

“In general, the best way to involve Ukraine in anything is to take us to the EU. When we become members of the European Union, then we will fully coordinate our efforts and jointly bear the burden of any problem or the joy of any success with the same Germany” – Kuleba commented.

The minister added that at the moment, at the official level, no proposals similar to those voiced by German MP Nils Schmid have been heard.

To remind, Nils Schmid suggested that the EU ask Ukraine for help in accommodating migrants who are breaking into Europe through Belarus.

“We need to talk about this with neighboring countries, such as Ukraine, which could temporarily place migrants on its territory while they go through the asylum procedure. This will create a controlled route for migrants to Poland” – Schmid said.
