Jean Reno chose place to finish his career – Ukraine

Ukrainian State Film Agency has signed an agreement with “East Wesr Production” on the provision of a full-length co-produced film “The Last Step” of state financial support for the amount of 21,630,000 Ukrainian hryvnias. The total cost of tape production is 73,877,206 Ukrainian hryvnias.

According to the State Film Agency, “The Last Step” is a joint project of Ukraine and France. From French side the production of the film is carried out by “East 35” and “SEVEN 52”.

Featured project is one of the winners of Tenth competitive selection of the State Film Agency. Frédéric Petitjean is the director and screenwriter of the film, producers are Corin Benishu, Laurent Talrón, Florence Moos (East 35, SEVEN 52), Olias Barco and Oleg Herman (“East West Production”). Production director, the French cameraman Thierry Arbogast, is a three-time winner of the Cesar Prize.

This film is about wanted contract killer saving life for the first time…

According to the director Frédéric Petitjean: “The last step is a story on the verge of a psychological thriller and an initiation film, between yesterday and today, where each element is emphasized and amplified by a retrospective. This story brings to the scene Henry, the hero of several days, which is oddly weaved with each other with hatred and enchantment”.

In the opinion of the Philip Illienko: “Involving Jean Reno as a world-class movie star in addition to the promise of the project itself also means the recognition of Ukrainian film industry by professional community worldwide.”

Jean Reno will be joined by Canadian actress Sarah Lind, British actor Tom Hopper, American actor Gary Dourdan as well as Ukrainian actors Ihor Tsyshkevych, Marharyta Burkovska, Oleh Karpenko and others.

Shooting will take place in Carpathians (on Lake Synevyr), Kyiv, New York and Canada.

Release is scheduled for 2019.

It should be recalled that the short film “5 minutes” on wealth and death won three awards at the International Peace & Film Festival.
