Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, a close ally of U.S. President Donald Trump, has expressed confidence that the American leader will ensure that “Ukraine becomes a free, sovereign state with a strong ability to defend itself against future aggression,” UATV English reports.

He wrote this on social network X.

Graham is confident that Trump, “in seeking peace in the war between Russia and Ukraine, will put pressure on both sides.”

“But ultimately he will ensure that Ukraine becomes a free, sovereign state with a powerful ability to defend itself from future aggression,” he stated.

The senator stressed that too much has been sacrificed for any negotiations to lead to a different outcome.

“We must all remember that the way this war ends is being closely watched, and it cannot encourage others to future aggression,” Graham emphasized.

He also added that Ukrainian children “abducted by Putin’s Russia” must be safely returned home.

It should be noted that on 22 November U.S. President Donald Trump said that his current peace plan for Ukraine is not a final proposal.

Before that, he had given Ukraine until 27 November to agree to the “peace plan” proposed by the American side.

A group of U.S. senators said that during a phone call at the Halifax International Security Forum, Rubio told them that the American “peace plan” is in fact “a Russian proposal,” not a U.S. initiative.

Rubio himself stated that the “peace proposal was developed by the U.S.,” but acknowledged that it is “based on a proposal from the Russian side.”
