Foreign Ministry reacted to the adoption of the draft updated Crimean resolution in the UN General Assembly Committee

Strengthening international cooperation on the way to restoring the territorial integrity of Ukraine – this is how the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted to the adoption of the draft updated Crimean resolution in the UN General Assembly committee.

The head of the department Dmytro Kuleba thanked the member states of the organization that took part in the development of the document. It contains, in particular, demands to Russia – to release all political prisoners, to stop arrests and persecution of the Crimean Tatar people.

The draft document was supported by 64 countries, 93 abstained and 20 voted against. Among them are Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

The resolution is to be finally approved in December. The decision of the UN General Assembly Committee is also welcomed by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“I welcome the approval by the General Assembly Committee of the draft resolution on human rights in the temporarily occupied Crimea. Our Crimean platform is in the text of the project! I am waiting for the General Assembly to approve the resolution in December” – he wrote in Twitter.
