The European Union decided to extend economic sanctions against Russia and urged it to abide by the Minsk agreements.

This is reported by UA with reference to Twitter by the President of the European Council Charles Michel.

If Russia takes further military action against Ukraine, it will face massive consequences and a very high cost. European Council leaders unanimously agreed to roll over economic sanctions against Russia, Michel said.

President of the European Council noted that the EU calls on Russia to abide by its part of the agreement and to continue the implementation of the Minsk agreements.

The European Parliament adopted a resolution on the security situation on the Ukrainian borders and in the territories temporarily occupied by Russia. The document condemns the military build up of Russian forces around Ukraine, calls on the Russian Federation to withdraw its troops and respect international law.
