On July 28 “Ukraine 30. Decentralization” forum started in Kyiv, the participants of which discuss the advantages and results of the reform, as well as its future prospects, UA reports.

The speakers of the event noted that decentralization in Ukraine is carried out on the basis of 3 key principles: empowerment of communities, financing of these powers and responsibility for decisions taken at the local level.

“After the formation of the United territorial community, the practice of administering taxes and relations with business has significantly improved. That is, there is a mutual interest of both communities and local authorities and businesses – to invest, respectively, in the welfare of a particular community. Business is also directly interested in this. This is both attractiveness and development for the future workforce” – Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said during his speech.

The head of government also believes that the reform promotes regional competition between local communities. And this, according to him, improves the conditions for doing business, especially for small and medium ones.

Discussions of the forum on the topic of decentralization and development of united territorial community will also continue on July 29.

Earlier, during the forum, President Volodymyr Zelnskyy said that decentralization should work throughout Ukraine, in particular throughout the Donbas.
