Blinken discusses Russian threat with Bucharest Nine counterparts

U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken discussed with the Bucharest Nine foreign ministers the situation on Ukraine’s border, where Russia is withdrawing troops and equipment.

This was reported by the press service of the US State Department, writes UA.

On January 3, Blinken and ministers discussed Russia’s destabilizing actions near the Ukrainian border over the phone.

The US Secretary of State stressed the need for a united and determined position of NATO for the collective protection of Allied allies, as well as transatlantic cooperation on issues of mutual interest.

“The Secretary of State stressed the US commitment to continuing close consultations and coordination with all transatlantic allies and partners to work on de-escalation through deterrence, defense and dialogue” – the statement said.

The Bucharest Nine includes Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
