President Volodymyr Zelenskyy praised Ukraine’s Naval Forces on Navy Day, saying they have shown the world that military strength is defined not by the size of a fleet but by professionalism, determination and innovation, UATV English reports.

Congratulating Ukrainian sailors, marines and all Navy personnel, Zelenskyy credited them with securing Ukraine’s maritime space, protecting southern regions from Russian attacks and defending some of the most difficult sectors of the front.

“Thanks to your courage, our maritime space remains under Ukrainian control, our southern regions are protected from Russian attacks, and the Marines, together with other Defense Forces units, continue to hold back the occupier in the toughest areas of the front,” Zelenskyy said.

The president stressed that the Ukrainian Navy has reshaped perceptions of modern naval warfare.

“The Ukrainian Navy has proved to the whole world that strength is not always measured by the number of ships or resources. Professionalism, determination and devotion to the country have delivered results that all of Ukraine is proud of. We will continue strengthening our Navy, Marine Corps and all naval capabilities,” he said.

Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi also congratulated Navy personnel, describing Ukraine as a maritime nation that continues to defend its access to the sea despite Russia’s full-scale invasion.

He said Ukrainian forces had fundamentally changed modern naval warfare through the integration of unmanned maritime systems, precision weapons and advanced intelligence capabilities.

“The Ukrainian Navy has become one of the first in the world to demonstrate a new model of naval warfare. The sinking of the cruiser Moskva, the liberation of Snake Island, the successful use of unmanned maritime systems, strikes against enemy warships, military infrastructure and logistics, and the restoration of safe civilian shipping have become part of modern military science,” Syrskyi said.
