Ukraine could receive around $4 billion in new assistance commitments following the latest meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said after the Ramstein-format talks in Brussels, UATV English reports.

According to Fedorov, Ukraine’s recent battlefield successes and growing defense capabilities have convinced partners that there is a “window of opportunity” to continue strengthening support for Kyiv.

“Over the past months, we have done our homework. We have achieved results in many domains of warfare. Today, many partners said they see this window of opportunity and are ready to continue helping,” Fedorov said.

He noted that one of the largest aid packages under the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) mechanism was announced during the meeting.

“This is a $1 billion package. As far as announcements at UDCG are concerned, this is probably the largest package under PURL,” he said.

Fedorov added that partners also announced a package worth about $500 million for long-range artillery ammunition, while other assistance packages focused on supporting Ukrainian missile and drone programs.

“Today alone, the Netherlands announced assistance related to about 700 cruise missiles,” the minister said.

Including new programs launched during the meeting, total commitments could reach approximately $4 billion, according to Fedorov.

He said the key difference between this Ramstein meeting and previous ones was the growing focus on Ukraine’s most urgent requirements.

“Our three key priorities are anti-ballistic and missile defense programs, long-range artillery, and Ukrainian-made drones,” Fedorov said. “Everyone who announced new packages focused on these priorities. This reflects a qualitative change in the support of our partners.”

The defense minister also revealed that Ukraine and Germany signed an important document on data sharing related to an anti-ballistic missile program. He expressed hope that the new capability would be developed in “historically short timeframes.”

Fedorov also noted that frozen Russian assets held in the United Kingdom would be used to finance the production of 150,000 drones for Ukraine.

“We will work in the coming months to create new windows of opportunity to force the enemy toward a just peace,” he said.

Earlier on June 18, Germany and Ukraine signed an agreement paving the way for the joint development of a new air defense system designed to intercept ballistic missiles.
