U.S. President Donald Trump praised Ukraine’s military performance in its war against Russia, saying Ukrainian forces have managed to hold their ground despite facing a much larger adversary.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said Ukraine has succeeded in stabilizing the battlefield situation despite Russia’s superior size and military resources, UATV English reports.
“Ukraine is fighting very well. Russia is a big country — much bigger militarily. But they’re doing pretty well. They’re holding their own. Don’t forget, they have excellent equipment, including equipment provided by us. Ukraine is fighting very well,” Trump said.
The remarks come amid continued discussions among Western leaders on further support for Kyiv and efforts to bring an end to Russia’s full-scale invasion.
Earlier, Trump agreed with fellow G7 leaders that Russia has shown no serious willingness to engage in meaningful peace negotiations.
French President Emmanuel Macron also noted that European leaders have coordinated their efforts to maintain a united approach toward talks with Moscow and support for Ukraine.
Ukraine’s Western partners have recently pledged to increase military assistance, including air defense systems, interceptor missiles, and long-range capabilities, while intensifying sanctions pressure on Russia.
